On the Day You Choose Each Other

On the Day You Choose Each Other On the Day You Choose Each Other On the Day You Choose Each Other

You have chosen each other before.

A thousand quiet times.

In the kitchen. In the dark.

In rooms no one will ever see again.

Desiderata for the Married

Desiderata — things desired. The poems  verses were found, weather-worn and anonymous, carved upon the wooden door of an old Baltimore church bearing the date 1692. Mine — written now in their gentle, ancient spirit — are for you: a few quiet wishes for your marriage, to return to whenever the world grows loud.

Because I am clumsy with gifts but witty with IT

For your forever memory
